About the Recipe
Simple ingredients, easy directions, and links for what I used. Enjoy!
Ingredients
2 cups of fresh or frozen fruit
3 tbsps honey or maple syrup
5 tbsps gelatin
3/4 cup water
2 tbsps chia seeds (optional-see notes)
Other optional add ons to enhance the flavor: juice from a lime or lemon, vanilla extract, fruit juice.
Preparation
Chia seed note: Soak 2 tbsps of chia seeds and about 1/4 cup+ water in a container until chia seeds swell to a gel-like texture. Usually takes 10-20 minutes. Skip this step if you are using berries. With the berries, this can be done at the same time you are cooking the berries. But you can definitely soak them to make sure they are soft.
Mango Gummy Bears:
Add 2 cups fruit to pan and team fruit until soft.
In a blender, add the soften fruit,1/4 cup water (or juice for sweeter taste), 3 tbsps of honey.
Add blended fruit back into pan on medium low.
In a separate container, add 5 tablespoons of gelatin ( I used beef gelatin extra health benefits + protein) and slowly add 3/4 cup of water. Mix until it"blooms".
Slowly add the gelatin mixture to pan and combine.
(optional) Add the soaked chia seeds and combine.
Pour mixture with a spoon or pipe mixture to gummy bear molds.
Place in fridge for at least 3-4 hours.
Remove gummy.bears from mold and store in airtight container in fridge for 5 days.
Berry Gummy Bears:
In a pot on medium low, add 2 cups berries, chia seeds (optional) and 1 cup water. Stir and let it for 3-5 minutes. Turn down to low for another 5-8 minutes. Check to see if chia seeds swell to a gel-like texture.
Mash the berries with fork or other cooking utensil.
In a separate container, add 5 tablespoons of gelatin ( I used beef gelatin extra health benefits + protein) and slowly add 3/4 cup of water. Mix until it"blooms".
Slowly add the gelatin mixture to pan and combine.
Pour mixture with a spoon or pipe mixture to gummy bear molds.
Place in fridge for at least 3-4 hours.
Remove gummy.bears from mold and store in airtight container in fridge for 5 days.
*If the mixture hardens before you finish pouring, warm it back up on the stove!
